In Houston and elsewhere, for the past several years, there has been a growing trend of staying fit to increase longevity. A large percentage of the population exercises regularly and watches what they eat. Our attitudes have changed a great deal about the type of food we eat and how we treat our bodies. We are making more and more of an effort to stay healthy and young. As a result, we are living longer. The good news is that we are feeling better longer, as well.
However, one common occurrence among men and women, especially as we age, is that we retain pockets of unwanted fat in certain parts of our bodies. The main area is around the abdomen. But we also keep fat in our thighs, hips, buttocks, lower back, and neck. These pockets of fat cause unsightly bulges that mar our figures. If we happen to be struggling with a part of our anatomy that is uncommonly resistant to traditional methods of weight loss, fortunately, there is a cosmetic procedure that targets these areas effectively and safely. This procedure is called liposuction.
If you are in Houston and you are reading this, you are in luck. There are quite many excellent surgeons who offer liposuction in Houston. Naturally, the right surgeon is the key to a successful surgery and positive results.
Qualities of a good candidate for Liposuction
Before a surgeon performs the procedure, they should determine if you are a good candidate for the surgery.
- You need to be within your target or ideal weight range
The liposuction procedure is not considered a method to remove significant amounts of weight. If you are considerably overweight, you will have to lose this weight and keep it off for at least six months prior to the surgery.
- You need to be in reasonably good health both physically and emotionally
You must be healthy and free of any illnesses that could cause problems for the surgery. You can’t have any significant health issues like heart disease or diabetes. You also need to be reasonably stable emotionally.
- You need to have realistic expectations for the outcome of the surgery
Liposuction surgery yields excellent results that people are pleased with. However, it isn’t guaranteed to make you happy.
- If you smoke, you must quit at least two weeks before the surgery
Smoking can harm surgery. It can even delay recovery. It’s a good idea to quit smoking no matter what, for obvious health reasons.
Lipo is excellent for taking off the last seven or ten pounds you have been trying to lose. If you feel as though you are the right candidate for the procedure, you need to consult with a plastic surgeon in your area.
