The physical changes that come with age are noticeable on different levels for people. Some notice that eyes and cheeks look deeper and gaunt. Restoring a youthful appearance is a desire of men and women alike. And to achieve excellent and long-lasting results, they turn to plastic surgeons for a facelift.

Our skilled facial plastic surgeons, led by Dr. Tyler McElwee, are experienced in performing a facelift in Houston & Webster, Texas, for patients who want to counteract the effects of aging and fight its early signs before they take hold. Ideal CANDIDATES FOR FACELIFT

Facelifts exchange the many signs of aging for a fresher, firmer, and tighter facial appearance. Because of its ability to diminish wrinkles, lines, and folds, many patients who undergo a facelift can experience a boost in self-confidence.

There is no minimum age for a facelift. Although the procedure will not stop the aging process, it will turn back the clock on the patient’s appearance and last for several years before they will eventually need to receive a second facelift to continue enjoying the results.

The ideal candidate for a facelift is any person who is:

  • In overall good health
  • A non-smoker (smoking hinders the healing process)
  • Has a realistic expectation of the results
  • Has good skin elasticity

FACELIFT SURGERY WITH MPS TOP DOCTORS

The facelift procedure we offer is based on each individual’s unique anatomy and goals. We always strive to develop the best possible treatment plan for our patients, prioritizing minimally invasive techniques that reduce downtime for recovery.

Surgical facelift procedures can take 3 – 4 hours to complete. General anesthesia is used for surgical procedures; local anesthesia is the recommended choice for standalone neck liposuction.

The facelift procedure begins with marking incisions that are to be opened and pulled upward to tighten the fit of the face and neck. The excess skin is removed and reattached to its new position with dissolvable sutures. Depending on your surgeon’s assessment, skin adhesives may be used instead of stitches or sutures.

TYPES OF FACELIFT PROCEDURES AT MPS

A facelift is a highly individualized surgery. We personalize each patient’s treatment plan based on our doctors’ assessment of their skin texture and elasticity and the severity of their wrinkles and folds. This allows us to understand what you need and what techniques to utilize to carry out your desired results. All of this takes place during an initial consultation with one of our plastic surgeons.

FACELIFT Techniques AT MPS

Technology has led to the development of many minimally invasive surgical facelift techniques, and this allows our doctors to provide a range of options for patients based on their individual goals.

We offer the following procedures:

Standard Facelift

A standard facelift, also known as a complete facelift, targets moderate to severe sagging or excess skin on the neck and face. Incisions are usually made along the hairline and behind the curves of the ears, which allows for a greater degree of tightening and results in a longer scar.

INFOGRAPHIC: What You Need To Know About Facelift

If the wrinkled or aged facial skin is your main issue, then the mini facelift is the ideal surgical procedure. Only the edges of the hairline and the skin in front of the ear are incised, and your surgeon uses these incisions to tighten your face and cheeks without affecting your neck.

Also known as a “traditional” facelift, this technique involves a small incision outside the lower eyelid. The skin is lifted to remove crow’s feet and other fine lines around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth, as well as mild to moderate skin sagging.

The Deep Plane Facelift corrects the skin and the muscles of the face and neck. This makes it an excellent procedure for treating severe sagging, with much stronger and longer-lasting results. In turn, the recovery time is much more intense.

Stubborn and unsightly fat on the neck can be removed with liposuction. With this technique, patients with little excess skin can achieve a more natural-looking result.

COMBINING FACELIFT WITH OTHER PROCEDURES

It is prevalent for patients to undergo another procedure in conjunction with their facelift. During consultations with our doctors, we make recommendations on which procedures can be combined with a facelift based on the results our patients expect, and we determine if the timing is right.

Eyelid Surgery

Also called blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery is popular with patients who notice signs of aging in the area around their eyes. Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin that hangs down onto the eyelashes and is often requested by patients to pair with a facelift. In addition, this procedure removes or moves certain fat deposits and tightens the muscles around the eyelids.

A Brow Lift focuses on the upper portion of the face, lifting the area above the eyebrows and reducing frown lines between them. A Brow Lift effectively eliminates frown lines, wrinkles, and drooping eyebrows by removing skin, fat, tissue and tightening muscles.

There are several surgical and non-surgical options for treating a double chin that can be combined with a facelift. Sometimes this combination is referred to as a Lower Facelift, and patients will likely see a more defined jawline and chin profile and a smoother neck without sagging skin as part of the results.

When combining a facelift with fat grafting, our surgeons perform liposuction to harvest fat cells from another part of the body and inject them to create additional volume in select areas of the face, usually the cheeks.

COST & FINANCING

The final cost of a facelift in Houston is determined by several factors, such as the specific procedure to be done and if there are additional surgeries to be done in conjunction with the facelift. The cost will also include operating room fees and surgeon’s fees, which vary per doctor.

At Memorial Plastic Surgery, patients will know their accurate quotation after their initial consultation. We accept several forms of payment, including all major credit cards, personal checks, and cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum and Bitcoin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is facelift surgery?

A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that tightens and smooths the face and neck to give patients a more youthful and fresh appearance. Also known as rhytidoplasty, a facelift treats sagging skin, lines and wrinkles, loss of muscle tone, and other signs of aging by lifting the skin, deeper tissues, and surrounding muscles.

With the help of medication and some aftercare that we encourage our patients to do at home, most of the bruising should recede after 2 – 3 days. Stitches are usually removed after two weeks, depending on the progress of recovery. We advise our patients to expect the final result within 3 – 4 months.

We advise our patients to keep their heads in an elevated position for the first few days after surgery. This helps drain any fluid from the face, reducing swelling and discomfort significantly. Swelling also decreases with the regular application of ice packs or cold compresses to the areas.

We also remind our patients to stay hydrated, limit exercise, and follow the recommended post-operative care instructions that our surgeons provide after the surgery to avoid complications during the healing process.

While it varies for each surgeon and their recommendations after surgery, massaging the face a few minutes a day during recovery will help improve blood flow through the healing tissues, which will help alleviate pain.

However, we recommend not massaging the incision area until the wounds have closed and the stitches have been removed. This will significantly reduce the risk of infection or swelling due to contact.

Non-surgical facelifts have been performed by plastic surgeons for many years and offer a range of minimally invasive techniques. Unlike traditional facelifts, they do not require large incisions or general anesthesia.

However, the results are not permanent, so patients must have regular follow-up procedures to obtain new dermal fillers and gel injectables.

A Quick Lift is a modern facelift technique designed to provide better results with less recovery and downtime. During a Quick Lift, the mid-to-lower portion of the face is tightened, including the neck and jawline. The procedure suspends the underlying structures of the lower face, known as the SMAS, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

A liquid facelift is a non-surgical alternative to the traditional facelift in which dermal fillers are injected into the skin. The fillers go into the gaps in the layers of the skin to eliminate wrinkles and sagging and make the skin appear smoother and plumper.

However, the effects only last 6 – 8 months, depending on the product used, which means patients will need to undergo touch-up procedures regularly to maintain and enjoy the results.

A vampire facelift is a non-surgical facelift that uses the patient’s blood as part of the augmentation procedure. The procedure involves injecting a hyaluronic acid-based filler precisely into the face to achieve a more youthful appearance. Blood is then drawn from the patient, and mixed with other ingredients to create a natural serum that boosts collagen production in the blood, triggering skin regrowth and tissue regeneration. The patient’s face is then numbed before the serum is injected directly into the target areas.

Despite effectively getting rid of moderate fine lines around the mouth, nose, and lips, a Vampire Facelift is not recommended for candidates with more severe signs of aging who would better benefit from surgical treatment.

Thread lift is a non-surgical and less invasive alternative to facelift surgery. Thread lift surgery tightens the skin by inserting dissolvable threads into the face, which are then tightened to pull the skin up for a subtle lift. It is a more convenient procedure as it can be done in less than an hour, which is much cheaper.

However, the results are not as effective or long-lasting as a surgical facelift. Thread lift is often offered to patients who are not suitable for surgery due to certain medical conditions.
