Areas That Can Be Treated by CoolSculpting
Areas in the body where unwanted fat deposits usually arise are the common target sites for CoolSculpting®. These include the following:
- Chin and neck
- Upper arms
- Abdomen
- Back (bra area)
- Thighs
- Buttocks and its surrounding areas
How is CoolSculpting® Applied?
CoolSculpting® is an outpatient procedure that usually lasts for approximately 35 – 60 minutes, depending on the number of treatment sites.
The treatment is grounded in the science of Cryolipolysis, where cold temperatures crystallize the fat cells and die. Our staff at The Memorial Spa will first apply a gel pad before placing the CoolSculpting® applicator on the body’s targeted treatment areas. This gently compresses the tissues and administers a definite and controlled cool temperature, as low as 4°C which will eventually break down the fat cells beneath your skin. Slight pressure will be felt once the cooling process starts.
At the end of your session, the treatment site is briefly massaged to help manage the swelling after removing the applicator. Eventually, the fat cells are removed through the body’s natural elimination process, leaving you with a more sculpted body.

How Long is the Recovery?
The downtime for CoolSculpting® treatment is minimal. Because the procedure is non-surgical, you may immediately resume work and other normal activities after the treatment. You may experience some swelling, bruising, and numbness, but these issues will recede on its own after a few hours.
How Long Will Results Last?
Results from CoolSculpting® are long-lasting and permanent; fat cells that are eliminated do not grow back and are not replaced by the existing fat cells in the treated sites. Immediate results are observable as early as four weeks following initial treatment.
We recommend maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent your existing fat cells from growing. Should you gain weight once the treatment is complete, the fat distribution will be even throughout your body. Untreated and treated areas will both gain fat, which will maintain the proportional contour of your body.
The final and optimal outcome is seen within approximately 3 – 6 months after completing the entire CoolSculpting® treatment. If you are currently based in the Greater Houston Area and need non-surgical fat-reduction treatment, you may contact The Memorial Spa today to schedule your consultation!
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is each session? How many sessions will I need?
Based on your physical assessment and specific needs, we will develop a treatment plan designed just for you. The duration will depend on the number of treatment areas in one session, while the number of your Coolsculpting sessions will be based on your desired results.
Is the CoolSculpting procedure safe?
Coolsculpting is FDA-approved and is considered a safe treatment being that it is a non-surgical procedure with minimal downtime. Compared to traditional liposuction, Coolsculpting offers many benefits without undergoing an invasive procedure, including a 20 – 25% fat reduction in treated areas.
What are the risks that I should be aware of before undergoing Coolsculpting treatments?
Coolsculpting is generally a safe treatment, but it does come with the risk of complications. One rare and possibly a long-term consequence after this procedure is Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), which is more common in men than in women. PAH happens when the stimulant causes fat tissues to thicken and expand instead of breaking down. It results in the enlargement of the treated areas. Other possible complications that may arise are the following:
- Changes in skin color
- Scarring
- Muscle weakness and reduced tongue movements after treatment at the neck and chin area
- Frostbite
- Development of hard nodules in treatment areas
